Due to high winds and seas on the Chesapeake, we had to abandon our first attempt to arrive at Deltaville. Instead we found safe harbor off the Chesapeake's eastern shore on Tangier Island. We left Tangier ignoring charted hazards and following the instructions of a bayman who fished a lifetime in those waters. Doing such, we shaved a few hours off our trip to Deltaville. It was not a good time of year to be sailiing in the Chesapeake. The morning we left, the wind chill was in the single digits.
